A Bright Future
Established in 1994 LEDCO is now entering its twelfth year of operation with enthusiasm and determination. This coming year promises to be one of the most important ones in LEDCO's history.
Track 1 will remain focused on the
development of the Nyadi Hydropower Project (NHP) and the Khudi Hydropower Project
(KHP). The main activities planned for this year include:
Construction of KHP.
Promoting the NHP to potential investors, partners and financing institutions to obtain financial closure.
The Track 2 Community Based Integrated Energy Planning and Development Project (CBIEP) will move from the planning phase to the implementation phase with continuous participation from the communities of Kolki and Ilampokhari VDCs. These activities will include the implementation of the Improved Cookstoves and micro hydro schemes. LEDCO has become a partner in implementing one grid-connected micro hydro project with local partners.
LEDCO has also received various requests from community members to investigate and develop the energy potential of isolated communities. These requests will continue to be addressed and will potentially develop into other Track 2 activities.
LEDCO's commitment: LEDCO is recognised as a model for the development of the country's most valuable resource through collaborative efforts. We will continue to be innovative in the commercial development of the nation's natural resources as well as in the implementation of rural energy technologies. We remain committed to motivating the local people as far as possible to participate and profit from the development of their energy resources.
