LEDCO's mision is to provide clean reliable energy to the people of Lamjung by tapping available natural renewable resources in an economically viable, environmentally responsible, and socially sensitive manner. LEDCO is taking an innovative approach to development; it has combined the efficiency of private business and retained its community focus.
LEDCO was founded in 1994 as a public company in response to the government policy to involve the private sector in energy production. Supported by a strong base of local investors, LEDCO is dedicated to providing renewable energy in the Lamjung District.
[To...Top of Page, History, Who is LEDCO?]Currently LEDCO has over 220 shareholders, mostly from Lamjung district, including individuals, the District Development Committee (DDC), and local Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs).
These LEDCO shareholders represent the professional, political and socio-economic diversity of the district. The Board of Directors elected by the shareholders direct company management.

In addition, the company works closely with the Committee for Public Awareness and Development Studies (COPPADES), a local NGO who works with the community at a grassroots level. Through this partnership, LEDCO gains valuable experience with and exposure to community issues, and COPPADES gains a partner with technical expertise and a business structure.
